Dress alterations

Tomica, on November 10, 2019 at 1:23 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 4
I just picked my dress up from the bridal store 😊 I was wondering how long before the wedding I should take it in to be altered (getting married June2020) and how much I should expect to pay? I'm adding cups and having the dress hemmed. Thanks in advance ladies!

I was told two months out. You can confirm with whomever is doing your alterations to see if they need longer for cups.

I had my dress altered over a year out because I’ve been the same size for 10 years. My dress has five layers, I think my hem was $200 and my cups were $20.

The say the first one should be 6-8 weeks out, that way, by the time of your last fitting (usually there are three) there isn't a ton of time for your weight to fluctuate. Also, in case it does at the 3rd appointment, they have time to tweak it

My dress had a lot of lace detail so I took mine in 2.5 months before my wedding and the seamstress was very happy. She had to take all the lace off the bottom to hem it and then put it back on. That was the most time consuming part. Adding cups were easy. Mine ended up costing $340 and she hemmed it, brought it in, added cups, bussled it, and changed the neckline
