Dress alterations

Laetitia , on May 17, 2019 at 11:02 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 8
Hi ladies,
im in search of a v neck dress and found a dress that’s closest to what I’m looking for but it’s a sweetheart neck. I’m thinking about getting the neckline altered into a v neck. Has anyone done this? If so, how did it turn out? I’m attaching the picture of the dress and the picture of how I’d like to cut the neck line.

If you're the same body type as the model I think that will work just fine. Check with someone who specializes in alterations.

I'm not sure, but it looks like of you turn your dress into a vneck, the v is gonna be VERY wide, exposing more than the example photo. If you're ok with that, it should definitely be possible!

I agree with you, I think this would make the v extremely wide if it’s cut far enough to make it a straight line. I would take this picture to a seamstress and see what she thinks! If the dress needs hemmed maybe she could use the extra material from the bottom to make something work

Talk to a seamstress. It can definitely be done! It will make cleavage significantly bigger, but with chest that’s not very large, like in both of your photos, I don’t think it will be too much or an issue. If you end up feeling it’s too much, you could add a small piece of illusion mesh to cover up a little & hold everything in place.
Keep in mind that because of the way straps are cut on top (they’re more straight than on an angle) you will get more of a scoop neck & not a perfect v-neck like in the 2nd photo.

Hi Laetitia! What have you decided to do? Keep the neckline the way it is, or change it to a V?

Hi Sinead, I actually went with a different dress altogether. I was a little nervous about having to alter the dress and didn’t want to end up with something I didn’t really love.
