Dress alterations?

Jessie, on February 15, 2020 at 6:49 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 9
When did you get your dress altered? How long did it take.

I'm getting married June 12th this year. Do I have time? I'm worried about an influx in my weight between getting it altered and the wedding.

This has been my biggest stress this last week. I marry in less than 2 weeks and the dress was just not the way I wanted. I’m sitting in DBs waiting for them to fix what I wanted cause I called this morning freaking out that my mom would fix it instead so they rushed and are getting what I want done.

I know people say get it altered 3 months before the wedding to account for weight fluctuations, but I literally wish I had my dress a month or 2 in advance without all this stress. I’m literally breaking out!

It’s usually recommended to start alterations around 2 months out.

I get married March 30th and started mine on January 4th. I've had two fittings already and go for my final on March 5th. This gives me enough time in case we need to do a 4th for last minute touches (don't think I need but never know). Depending on your dress and what you're needing I'd would start with 3 months out and go from there.

I just had my first fitting today, which is 12wks from my wedding. I go back March 19th. She said if all goes well, I can take it home that day. If not, she said issues will be fixed within 24hours

I would probably start soon only because it's prom season.

I got married in October and I started my alterations in August. It took about a month. Then I went in for a final 2 week fitting right before the wedding to make sure it didn’t need any last minute tweaks.

I think the "official" recommendation is:
    1st fitting @2 months out
    2nd fitting @ 1 monthfinal fitting @ 1 week

It's probably good to think about how likely you are to gain/lose weight and also how worried you'll be if you put it off. I'm getting married in August and having my first fitting next week, but there's pretty much no chance I'll gain or lose more than like 3 pounds in the next 6 months and I get really anxious about not having things done.
You could always have your first fitting now and ask the tailor how long they think your specific alterations will take and how forgiving your dress will be to weight fluctuations before deciding when to have your next fitting.

I'm getting married March 28. I had my first fitting in Mid-January. I just had a third fitting this past week. And I'll probably have a 4th next week sometime.
