Dress alterations

You could definitely visit both places to get a price quote for the alterations, and then pick whichever one you feel more comfortable with!

I agree with Lisa! Go meet with both of them, see who you thin you prefer, and get a quote! My bridal salon recommended only one seamstress, but she's literally the best in town even if her prices agree with that. Keep in mind that more lace means more $$ wherever you go.

I was given a list of recommended alterations vendors by my bridal salon, and called two or three of them to discuss prices (flat or per service), as I had a good idea what I needed done, and availability. I also read a lot of reviews on their websites, Wedding Wire, Google, etc. I picked the one that worked best with my schedule, as prices were pretty comparable.

I went to the “best seamstress” in my area and I had an awful vibe. She said in order to make the chest fit she would have to cut and sew on the breast (when there wasn’t a seam there to begin with) I thought this was extremely odd. I ended up giving her a deposit and then leaving my dress with her. Then I was getting nervous about a specific alteration decision so I called her and she called me a bridezilla and made me cry. So I decided to pick up the dress and go else where. She gave me my deposit back. One other thing that I thought was weird is that she doesn’t actually do the sewing. She just tells her workers what to do.


The next women I went to did all alterations herself and I felt much calmer with her. She also suggested taking in the chest by making seams in the BACK of the dress. (Obviously made so much more sense)
Moral of the story. Yes I think you can shop around for a seamstress hahah
