Dress Alterations - July Brides

Jenna, on April 19, 2020 at 1:00 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 6
We are still hopeful that our July 11th wedding will take place as planned but I need my dress altered and due to COVID 19 we are under stay at home orders until June 10th and my seamstress is not currently taking appointments. I'm worried 4 weeks won't be enough time to complete alterations if we don't open back up before then. My seamstress recommends scheduling alterations 8 to 12 weeks before the event. Anyone else in a similar situation?

I’m an October bride but in a similar situation. My place recommends 13 weeks the latest or anything less would incur a rush fee. VA is closed until June 15th for now so I’m scheduled for my 1st fitting on Father’s Day but that may get pushed back as well. I have more wiggle room than you but I certainly don’t want to have to pay an outrageous fee for starting alterations too late. Wishing you the best of luck! I pray it all works out for you.

Can you reach out to other places? I ended up postponing my wedding but the seamstress I’m going to use was willing to work with me through all of this still.

My dress is arriving next week, and the seamstress isn’t getting back to me too. Looking at how much my dress has to be fixed, at least I would say a month. The lockdown might be lifted in May, but 🤷🏻‍♀️

My seamstress is working with me too. My final fitting is next month. We're not postponing our wedding but she did say some brides are wanting to cancel or postpone their alterations. She is already booking up for Fall brides and was having to tell those that are wanting to change their alteration appointments that it may be best to come on in as she may not have the time to tack them on with her Fall brides.

July 25th and I have no idea if the wedding will go on, but my seamstress was taking limited appointments and was able to begin working on my dress.

Any update? I got my dress on the 21st of April, and I went to the seamstress on May 1st. My next fitting appointment is on 10th of June. She said it would most likely done by end of June-ish
