Dress alterations gone wrong

My dress alterations came back and they’ve made the arms too small, I tried on the dress for 5 mins tops and had bright red lines just from that. I’ve even lost a little weight since my alteration appointment, so if anything it should have been too big.


The built in cups for my boobs have also been lifted too high for my boobs and it looks strange.. I tried to pull my boobs up to fit it, but with the arms being too small, I could barely move.

I was going to unpick the dress and just resew it a little bigger (I’m not a newbie with dresses so could do it easily) but the excess fabric has been cut. I can’t add a section in because I have a chiffon drape at the back of my dress that would end up being too short.

The lady that did my alterations is a friends mum, her job is a seamstress but she did it as a gift for me. My mum feels I should tell her, but I don’t want to tell her and then her try again and botch it up even more.

I’m currently in England and moving to America (I’m marrying an American) but I leave in 18 days (the wedding is in 1.5 months) so I feel like I have barely any time to fix it.

I’m already very stressed as you can imagine planning a wedding from abroad must be and this is just the cherry on top. I really love my dress but feel so ugly in it after these alterations. 😞😞

I’m really upset but I don’t know what to do 😞
