How much did your alterations cost for your wedding dress and what did you get done? I’m in the Philly/South NJ area!

About $600 for what seems like the bare minimum 😕 but I live right outside of DC so everything is expensive. I just got the bust taken in, straps shortened, and a hem since I'm only 5'3

I’m in TN and it was 120, to let it out some and hem it up.

Daughter purchased her dress in So Cal (high cost of living market); alterations at the bridal salon were ~ $450 for tightening the bodice and adding 2 sets of cups (it took some work to get it tight enough to support her well -- dress was very low back...); lengthening the straps a quarter-inch; and creating the bustle (three point over bustle for tulle/lace layers and three point under bustle for the satin lining). Luckily, the length was perfect, so no hem was necessary. The style of the dress/number of layers/amount & type of embellishment/etc. will all have a big impact, along with geographic location, on the cost of alterations. For example, hemming a multi-layer skirt with embellishment on the bottom edge is going to cost a lot more than a dress with just one or two layers and no embellishments that need to be removed and then replaced. Good luck!

Depends on what's getting altered. Sometimes it's more than the dress

I paid a between $750-$850 but i cant remember the number off he top of my head. I have to have 3 appointments though because they have to take the dress in a lot. I'm a size 6 but they has to order a size 12 to ft over my cheat area and then take the dress in and i am only 5'0 so several inches off the bottom as well.

$370. I had it hemmed, taken in through my hips and thighs, the torso shortened, and added a bustle.

At Kleinfeld in NYC. $895. I went to another seamstress for a quote and it was about $600 plus another $300 for the bustling. So I just decided to go to Kleinfeld.

$400 in NYC for hemming, single loop bustle, little tucks in the back area and strap shortening (dress has lots of lace and beading)
I was told the price depends on the material of the dress. So mine has lots of beading which was why other places were quoting me about $600 for very little alterations, because they have to take off the lace and beading and hand sew it back on individually! But if my dress had been just a plain material, it probably would have been much cheaper!
