Dress alteration anxiety

Jodie, on August 13, 2022 at 3:38 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 1 4
I am eloping in the flordia keys on new year eve 2022. I purchased my dress in March. At that time I tried on a size 14 and it was a little snug. They ordered me a size 18. Since then I have lost 25lbs and got liposuction 1 month ago. I went from a size 16 jeans to a size 10 with room and size xl to medium in normal cloths. I am trying to still loose more weight and I wont see final results for about about 5 more months post-op. The bridal salon told me the dress would arrive at the end of October. I am very nervous about how much work the dress will need in the time frame I have. Also the cost of the alterations make me nervous. Any words of encouragement or advice?
I also order the train to be custome made into a short swoop train since it is a beach wedding. Hopefully that should arrive already done.Dress alteration anxiety 1

I love the dress! I’m wondering if you’d be able to get a different size if need be if they have it in the bridal shop. If alterations does required a lot I’d recommend looking into a local alternations shop as it won’t be as expensive. I think it’ll be fine and you’re going to look great!!

Did you let the bridal shop know that you would be having the surgery and had planned on losing so much weight? In general, dresses can typically be altered two sizes before essentially recreating the entire dress, and this can be very costly depending on the amount of detail in the dress. I would get in touch with the bridal salon as soon as possible to see what they suggest.

No they do not know. I didn't even know at the time this was going to happen. I had been trying to loose weight this entire time and the surgery unexpected bonus. I will call them tomorrow and see what they have to say.

I would hope that the dress had not been started and could be made to the smaller size. I've not heard of this happening though. Maybe try to get in touch with Justin Alexander directly?? I guess it depends where they make the dresses though.
