Dragon/fairy Theme

Kat, on March 11, 2018 at 10:33 AM Posted in Style and Décor 1 15

Hello everyone,

I am having a dragon/fairy themed wedding and I'm having a little trouble deciding on decor. I' sick of looking on pinterest because I've seen the same suggestions over and over again, so I figured I'd try getting some ideas on here. I don't want the wedding to be too medieval/renaissance looking, I still want it to be kind of classic.

I already designed my own invitations, have special toasting glasses for me & the groom, and a cake topper. Any ideas would be very much appreciated at this point. Smiley smile

Thanks in advance,

Kat

What about jars with fairy silhouettes (tagboard cutouts)and some moss and fairy lights in them as part of centerpieces? Like take a vase and spray it with frosted glass spray paint, put a cardboard cutout to resemble a fairy silhouette near the side of the jar, moss on the bottom, maybe a battery operated tealight or fairy lights inside?

I actually love that idea. I was planning on doing something like that because i found a pretty awesome silhouette of a dragon and fairy that i could use. I was thinking of doing that in a lantern.

This isn't decor, but I have a custom made dragon necklace that I think is beautiful. I got it as a gift, from etsy. They let you choose the colors, and it lays really well. I don't remember the exact shop, though. I have had this for years now.

I'm not sure for decor, PP had good suggestions.

Just be careful posting your invitations complete with your personal information on here. It's a public forum, and there have been instances where users were found off WW... Just want to give you a cautious heads up. Smiley smile

Also, maybe use a lot of textures instead of what I would imagine would end up as figurines. For example, think about incorporating something scaley (youtube mermaid makeup using fishnet stockings) and I'd imagine a lot of glitter with the fairy part.

How did you and FH come to your theme? My FH is into DnD, but I really wanted classic, so I'm 'hiding' some D20 in plain sight with my DIY centerpieces.

Oh, that's pretty. I've just always loved dragons and fairies since I was a kid. We were at King Richard's Faire and found awesome dragon toasting classes and it kind of just grew from there. Lol

We are planning on having a similar theme as I love fairies and he loves dragons. Ours is going to be a bit more subtle though. If I may ask, what did you do for your cake topper?

Lots of twinkling lights, tulle, sparkles. That's what comes to my mind anyway

That’s so cool! I love it! Let me try to give you some suggestions that hopefully you havnt heard of already

    dragon eggs decor
    fairy garden centerpieces
dressing the flower girl up as a fairy
go with a bohemian styled dress with lots of flowers in your hair or wear a dress that makes you feel like the mother of dragons
look at game of thrones hair styles and bring them up to your stylist or look at diy tutorials
incorporate scale mail (chainmail that looks like scales) into your decor
Candles too! Those add an element of magic to any wedding
and also maybe consider a dramatic color Pallette (think deep colors and occasional jewel tones)

    Hope that helps!

My husband and I are renewing our vows for our 10 year anniversary because we didn't get to have a real wedding. He picked fairies and dragons for our theme. I told him I want to look like a fairy princess. We picked hunter green, dark purple and white for our colors but cant come up with flowers or decorations. Dragon/fairy Theme 4
