Double Wedding?

Natalie, on February 11, 2020 at 1:54 AM Posted in Planning 0 9
My cousin and I want to have a low budget wedding. We both like the same things and want the same. Has anyone done a double wedding with anyone? Pros? Cons?

I would never do a double wedding. When I was a kid, I saw one on TV, and immediately told my best friend that we would never ever ever do that.

I’ve never seen one and never known anyone to do one, but I think it’s a cool, unique idea! If you are close to your cousin and neither of you mind sharing the spot light, I’d go for it! It’d be a great way to cut your budget in half, and afford you the luxury of getting things you may not have otherwise. I’d just make sure you both agree on key points before locking in (ie, photographer, DJ, menu, theme, etc)

I wouldn't do it but I've seen people on some reality TV show do it. It's kind of a cool idea I guess if you're really close to each other and it certainly would save moneg

I think it's cool idea I just wouldn't do it personally. Now would I let one of my brides maids get engaged on my special day? YES. i LOVE THEM. lol.

It was more than 70 years ago, but my mother and her sister had a double wedding. Post-WWII, there were different expectations regarding weddings than now, obviously, but it was absolutely gorgeous and throughout her life my mom spoke very fondly about it. Clearly, their guest lists were very similar, so it just made sense. It was a big church wedding and then a full-on reception at a country club. Fun fact, their dresses were the same, but they carried different types of flowers in their bouquets, and all their BMs & flower girls wore white.... For 1948, it was a pretty amazing wedding! I agree with pp that if you and your cousin are close and can truly share the bridal-spotlight, it might be awesome. Good luck! Smiley heart

My cousins did a faux double wedding awhile back. They had did one ceremony in the morning and one in the afternoon with a small reception between for people attending both weddings. They did a large reception that evening for all guests.

Con - You hopefully only get married once and it is supposed to be the best day of your life that you share with your significant other! That isn't something you should want to share the spotlight with someone else.

    Pros - None.

I would never do a double wedding. As PPs have said, you only get married once (hopefully) and the spotlight should be solely on you and your spouse!

If you're looking to save some money, you could still share decor!
