Double chin insecurities...

Alicia , on October 12, 2016 at 3:08 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 19

I have a double chin and I am so self conscious about it. I have always been very thin and I fell in love, had a child and gained weight. I'm less than a month from my wedding and all I can think about is how gross I'm going to look in my pictures. Do any of you ladies feel this way? Any tips for looking good in my pictures or make up tips?

I'm in the same boat girl. Have you tried contouring your jaw line/under your chin? Sometimes that helps give the appearance of no double chin.

Your photographer can probably give you tips on how to angle/tilt your head so that it minimizes it if you're concerned with it. We are our own worst critics so I bet it is no where near noticeable to others like it is to you!

Your photographer should have some tips for posed shots. Try to remember those throughout the day. Or ask her at the beginning.

When I was in college for journalism, our photography instructor gave us the tip to have our subjects stick their tongues to the roof of the mouth. It usually causes the person to lift their chin a little. I'm not sure if that's the current pro tip or not.

I've heard you should put your tongue to the roof of your mouth and then kind of suck. Also just let the photographer know and they will know how to handle it

As my girlfriend says, tits up and chin out. I usually try and stick my tongue as flat as I can to the roof of my mouth.

I'm in the same boat. I'm really trying to get rid of it. You can't spot reduce fat, but you can tone it up with some exercises: http://www.littlethings.com/how-to-get-rid-of-a-double-chin/

Thank you for the advice. But how do you smile while holding your tongue to the roof of your mouth? Haha

Talk to your makeup artist and photographer. Makeup artist should be able to do contouring and highlighting that will 'illusion'... and photographer should be able to get your better angles.

You are not the only one sweetie. Don't let it get you down.

The chin is a hard area, because you can't really target it with exercise the way you can for other parts of the body. Have you ever heard of Cool Sculpting? It's a virtually painless procedure that freezes fat cells until they die. I know a few people who had it done on their chin, and have seen big results. You basically sit in the office for 45 minutes to an hour with the machine hooked up to your chin. You can leave the office and go on about your regular day--you could literally do this on your lunch break! Then, over the course of the next 3-6 months, those now dead fat cells will begin to be eliminated from your body. I like that it takes a few months to see results, because then it will look like you are naturally losing the weight, as opposed to plastic surgery, where it's an immediate difference that everyone can tell. Is there an Ideal Image near you? They offer payment plans, you can get the procedure done, then pay it off slowly. Google before and after cool sculpting pics on Google images. If this is a big deal for you, you may consider getting this done as a worthwhile investment. I'm attaching a before and after pic of the chin I found on Google Images now.

I know it won't really help for your wedding at this point, since it takes a few months to see the results, but in the meantime, a talented makeup artist who is good with contouring, should know tricks for minimizing the look of a double chin. Also, a talented photographer knows the best angles for this as well! I'm sure you will look beautiful on your wedding!

I had serious double chin during my engagement photos but I loved the photo (and in profile!) and chose it for my save the dates even though I had more flattering photos.

You won't look gross, you'll look in love and you'll be radiant from head to toe.

Look up Kybella, or cool sculpting.

If you're out of time, I agree with PPs contouring comment.

I've literally never seen a bride where I've thought "wow that chin". You will look STUNNING! Ask the photographer to let you know if she thinks you obviously will hate the angle in a photo

If you've got an extra $1500 you can get mini-lipo but do it at least a month or two before the date so.. now.

Aside from that, just wanna reiterate what everyone else is saying. Trust me, I HATE photos of myself, but I know when they come all FH is gonna say is "you look beautiful", so if all i see is my double chin, but he sees a lovely bride, fuck it, I'll take it.

I just got my trial spray tan for the wedding (I'm usually pretty pale) and i think my face looked thinner. I have a very round face normally with a double chin that shows up when I smile. Maybe try that and work with your make up artist/ photographer for suggestions Smiley smile you'll be beautiful!
