Double booked wedding venue..

Midelvia, on October 1, 2020 at 1:27 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 8
We choose a venue for next year November 2021 a month ago. However, we were recently told we were double-booked. The venue is offering us a Friday or Sunday or a later date. All these choices are very inconvenient for us and our guests. Even if we do compromise on a new date truthfully, I’m unsure I can work with a venue I no longer have trust for. It’s hard because we love the venue and the price was right within our budget. We also have plenty of time to find a new venue, so that’s another possibility. But that would require us to basically start over and search for new venues, again.

I’m conflicted between working past the negligence because we love the venue or searching for a new venue.
Any suggestions or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you 🙂

I don't think you should view it as a breach of trust thing because frankly businesses comprise of people, and people make mistakes. It is unfortunate that they double booked but these mistakes do happen. The good thing is you’ve been informed about it early on.

At the end of the day, I think this comes down to what you are willing to compromise on, the date or the venue. I would go with whichever option of the two makes you happiest.

Frankly, I’m not sure I’d trust a place that double books, even if it was an accident. Just means they’ll make more mistakes in the future

I personally would start looking for a different venue immediately. Especially because many brides had to reschedule

Did you have a contract signed or just a “soft hold” on the venue? If you signed a contract, I’d be hesitant too because I honestly don’t believe the double booking story. This is 2020 and businesses enter info into computers... they’re not scheduling with paper and pen! So, it sounds a little fishy to me. But regardless, if you still use that venue, definitely negotiate the price down for their mistake and your inconvenience.

I would look for a new venue. The fact they double booked shows they are not organized and their staff is not on the same page. I would not want to have my wedding somewhere like that. Sorry this happened to you and good luck!

I would consider a new date if you love the venue, but if you’re set on the date then look for a new venue.

I agree with this. Speaking as someone who worked a job for years scheduling events, double booking inevitably happens sometimes. It doesn't matter that the info is being entered into computers, and it doesn't matter how organized the staff are. Double booking has likely happened once or twice at any venue you may choose to work with. I'm sorry that it happened to you. Unless there are other red flags, I would suggest not letting this situation sour your impression of the venue if you really love it, but ultimately you'll have to go with your gut. Good luck!
