double blindfolded first look

Finally mrs.jkr, on September 6, 2014 at 2:35 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 5

I'm thinking of having a little couple minute first look being blidfolded, because we really want to have our first look of each other being at the ceremony....

I'm really not sure about it, it seems like a cute idea, but I really am not sure if I want to even be around him before the ceremony, I don't know whether it would take away from the emotion he'd show when I'm walking down the aisle. But I really think it would be nice to have a private moment to pray together.

what do you guys think?

We're going to do a "first touch" which is essentially the same thing, but we can stand around the corner from each other and get a cute picture and either say a prayer or read notes we've written to each other, I think it will be a really sweet moment. Enough to maybe calm my nerves but not take away too much magic. I think it's a really cute idea, you should go for it!

As a bride, I would not want to be blindfolded. I'd worry about my hair or eyelashes/makeup getting messed up. I know that wasn't your question, but wanted to bring that up in case you hadn't thought about it.

I like the first touch. As I've gotten deeper into planning, I think we'll do a straight on first look and get some couples pictures out of the way. I wanted to keep the tradition but I found myself caring less about it do we can get to the reception sooner. But also, our schedule is pretty compact for our reception.

I like Happy In Hawaii's idea - stand around the corner from each other, lock hands, and you can pray, but it's much easier than the blindfold... and really you're going to be so full of nervous energy, being blindfolded and having someone take a photo is NOT something I'd want to stop in the middle of my preparation for the walk down the aisle to do!

We did a first look at our wedding and it 100% did not take away from the emotion either of us felt walking down the aisle. It was my favorite part of the entire day because it was the only time we got to be alone together! If you're against a first look, I would nix the blindfold and do a first touch instead.
