Donuts! 🍩

I’ve considered this for us but I’m still undecided! Neither of us are big on cake. The last wedding we went to did donuts and a simple cake for those that preferred that. The bride and groom each picked a personalised flavour, which I thought was really cute. Everyone seemed to really like the donuts, I know I did!

Hi GoingGordon! I think that donuts are an awesome idea! Using donuts at your wedding was actually ranked as one of the "Hottest New Wedding Dessert Trends" by WeddingWire! I think they are so fun and absolutely delicious! It's also a great idea to have a variety of flavors! I think there are so many fun ways to display them to your guests as well! Here are a few of my favorite ideas:

We had a cake, but we did a two-tier simple cake for cutting and kitchen cakes out back. We did have donuts as our favors and they were a HUGE hit. If you look closely at the picture, in the background (in the mirror), you can kind of see the line of people waiting for my photographer to finish up!

We didn't even get to see the table until we got our pictures back because all the donuts were gone by the time we came downstairs (our DOC saved some for us; HIRE A DOC! they're lifesavers). I would say if you don't like cake and want to do donuts, go for it! Everyone loved it at our wedding.

Donut / Favor Display

Just got married last wekeend. My guests loved the donuts so much! We had a donut board and a donut tier tower. We chose a family run donut shop to make the donuts. The donuts were a hit and everyone claimed they loved them more than cake!

We're going to be having cake, so I haven't personally done donuts, but the event coordinator at my venue said that a lot of brides did them/are doing them and they've all been successful! The most recent one was a "treat yo' self" board with donuts on pegs. It sounded kind of messy, but it looked cute, and she said it was a hit!

I love cake, but I keep waiting to be invited to a doughnut wedding 😂

View Quoted Comment Yeah fondant is upsetting. I went traditional icing on mine and my mini cupcakes. Tbh fondant's such a turn off for me that it doesn't look cute anymore 😅 . But I do love a doughnut, especially locally made. So many bride friends over the course of two years, and I keep waiting to see who'll go for it haha

I went to a wedding with donuts, Goingordon! It was a huge hit! They even gave us boxes to take some home with us as favors. Of course, I ate mine on the ride home

We contemplated this idea. There is something cool I found on Pinterest where it's a large board with long sticks (prob not sticks but you get it lol) where the donuts will be hanging on. If I can find it again, I'd definitely send it to you. Anyway, "Holy Matrimony" was spelled at the top of the board and I thought that was pretty clever!
