Donut amount?

Amy, on July 27, 2017 at 8:10 AM Posted in Planning 0 22

I know everyone says donuts are trendy and who wants them at their wedding and it's a bad only dessert option, but hey, I've wanted donuts from this one local shop for my wedding since I was 10 years old. So, yeah. :-) Anyway, we're going to have donuts and ice cream for our wedding dessert. We don't have money to do a big spread of options, even though that would be what I would love to do. (Cupcakes are EXPENSIVE!) I'm trying to decide how many to get, because I know there will probably be a lot people (maybe more than average) who won't eat any. Would it be fair to just account 1 per person and assume it will even out or should I do 1.5/2 per person? I can see having a ton left over if I do that, but I don't know.

Personally, I would budget 2 per person.

The wedding I worked this past Saturday had 135 guests and they had 16 dozen donuts. They had maybe three dozen left over.

Our daughter is doing donuts too. I love this idea.

I would do 2 per person. Worst case you have extras!

I'm not really saying that the guests won't like the dessert, I probably should've clarified my comment about that. There's more factors playing into it as well - the amount of guests coming, as well as the fact it's going to be a shorter reception, so a lot of people are going to fill up on dinner and not necessarily want dessert right after and there won't be a whole evening/late night for people to go back and pick over what's left.

We are doing 2-3 per person but they are mini donuts. We figured any extras will be a good snack the next morning.

People are going to want dessert no matter how short the reception is. Budget 2 per person.

I'd do 1.5 or 2 per person! YUM. I'd definitely eat 2 if I were a guest Smiley smile

You know your guests best and to be honest I do not understand the donut fascination so my advice probably wouldn't be very popular. Lol

I would say 2pp and maybe toward the end, put out a handful of tiny single-donut bags to allow people to take one home?

Reality 1 should probably be enough. Budget 1.5 if you think there are many guests who may not want any.

I'd say 2 per person. We had donuts and cake. About 100 people and got 120 donuts and we had about 20 left over.

ETA the leftovers were awesome for the next day!

I honestly think 1 would be enough, to be safe 1.5 should be plenty.

My FH's cousin did this at her wedding. Personally I loved it, but I'm not much of a cake person! I would say 2, because I know a lot of people ate that many at the wedding I attended. Not sure how many she had left over.
