Don't overlook your grocery store florist!

Carrie, on June 22, 2015 at 3:31 PM Posted in Planning 0 19

FH and I met with the Kroger florist today after a disastrous trip to a local florist who wanted to sub my peony and anemone sample picture with hydrangea and daisies. This lady was on top of everything, called her grower to confirm what subs were available in September and prices. We could see she was scared to give us the quote since the David Austin roses were a little pricy (off the bat $200 of the total for 24 stems which I didn't think was bad at all). She was, no joke, half the price of Mr. Hydrangea and Daisies. We'll get my bouquet (9-10"), a MoH bouquet (7") and three bridesmaids (6") as well as four corsages and six bouts. For $300-400 instead of $600-700.

This is the sample pic we're going for.

I think I'm doing this! I haven't talked to anyone yet because it's probably a little early but I think it's the route I'm going

Awesome Smiley smile I was planning on doing my own using Costco flowers/greenery but the past few times I've walked past the flower department at our local grocery I've actually seen these awesome green stemmed things I was thinking I'd buy and incorporate. Still too early for me to commit at this point but I am glad to hear someone had a good experience!

Awesome! One of my friends got her flowers from the florist at her grocery store and the were beautiful. I considered it, but when I called the florist was very rude and didn't have availability for a consultation for about a month and a half. I ended up going with a local florist that was reasonable priced.

No centerpieces from the florist for us. Our venue is a little on the dark side so we're focusing mostly on candles (LED) for ambiance. We're doing our own floral centerpieces since we're just going low-key for flowers based on a Pinterest idea. I did talk to her about ordering in bulk from her but will probably be ordering the alstro online since the store doesn't let her choose the color of alstro that she gets in. She had tons of tips on what to look for and when to have it delivered, how to care for the flowers.

Sonya, those are gorgeous! I think the closest Whole Foods to us is like an hour away. I've heard so much about their floral that I was bummed we didn't have one closer.

Sonya, did you do your own bouquets after buying the flowers? Whole Foods flowers are so nice... I go there like 3 times a week because I'm addicted to their cheese department. We got a big new one like 3 months ago and it's ridiculously nice.

I'm also going to look into Publix, for both the cake and flowers. Their bakery is crazy good and I've heard good things about their floral department, too.
