Don't know the last name of a guest

Amy, on September 26, 2014 at 10:00 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 11

So I'm down to two weeks! One of our wedding guests that we invited we allowed to bring a 1 since he won't know anyone else at the wedding. Problem is all we know is her first name because he didn't write the last name. The easy solution would seem to be to get in touch with him. Problem is we haven't been able to.

So the question is I'm making escort cards and I don't know what to do. I can't just write Lisa because there is more than one Lisa and that doesn't look right. I thought given the circumstances I'd attach his last name to it, just so she'd know for sure it's her card. My husband to be though disagrees and says that wouldn't be right. We don't even know if this is a girlfriend or one of his 'regular' friends (we know he had a friend named Lisa). So I can't even write "Lisa date of_____"

Anyway how can I best write this, I don't want to cause issues for him (he really is a very nice guy but having a very rough time right now, he's usually quite thoughtful).

Mr John Smith & Guest would be how I would write it. Although our wedding is a little more casual so I'll probably end up writing John Smith & Guest.

I would just write "& guest" too. That being said, is it possible to FB stalk him to try and figure it out? lol

This happened to me and I had to do some major Facebook stalking... he isn't on Facebook, so I looked at the friend lists of his mom, sister, and a couple mutual friends. Found a girl that I THOUGHT was her, then went to her instagram, and found a bunch of photos of the two of them, so I figured I was safe to assume it was her.

I'd either do what Nancy T suggested or in my case I put John Smith - Guest on escort cards of those people whose guest I didn't know

I had this same problem and I just wrote the first name of the guest on the escort card. Then I made sure to put that escort card RIGHT BESIDE the escort card of person they were coming with. It worked out fine for me. No confusion that I was aware of.

Thanks, I think I will do Lisa guest of John Smith and I'll put the card next to his so there should be no difficulty finding it. Although Lisa Unknown has a certain ring to it.....
