Donations as favors

We are not registering nor do we want gifts. We are asking for guests to bring memories (stories that can be written on paper cut outs and or photos) of either is as a couple or individually that we can make into a scrap book. In looking on Pinterest I saw “donation to charity” as a “favor”. Was thinking of doing that-donation in honor of our wedding to Habitat for Humanity, something near and dear to our hearts. Thoughts?

In lieu of gifts, I think the donation to Habitat for Humanity is a thoughtful idea!

I love the “memories” idea! How romantic & meaningful.

As a guest, I’m not a fan of donations. It feels preachy. Ask for “no gifts” if you wish.

We're doing something similar. In lieu of favors and lots of florals, we're arranging a donation with several organizations that mean something to us as a couple. We'll be placing these cards with our centerpieces.

I would suggest allowing them to donate to the charity of their choice.

I agree with this. The memories idea is cute! Donations can be made any time by anyone. It doesn't ever make any sense to say oh thanks for coming to our wedding we didn't give you a favor because we donated to here. Okay great? Just don't have a favor then.
