Donation to Charity Instead of Gifts!

A family friend showed me her wedding invites from 25 years ago! It was super cool and nostalgic, but also really interesting to see she asked everyone to forgo gifts and make a donation to her favorite charity.
I know some couple's on here don't always need the gifts ect so I thought this was a cool idea to spread if anyone didn't need/want gifts or money for their wedding maybe this would appeal to them.
Anyone else see any other interesting and unique ideas instead of gifts?

That is such a good idea.
i never thought of that before. usually i see people do typical registries or honeymoon funds. the first unique one i ever saw was someone had a cash fund for a dream home

We have a cousin with a rare muscle disorders and so are asking people to donate to charities that support research for that. We’ve already been “living in sin” as my dad calls it for over a year so we have most household items.
