Donating leftover food?

We are probably going to do what my stepsister did and donate the leftover unopened food to first responders and firefighters.

We took ours home and spent the day between the wedding and the honeymoon vacuum packing it. We froze some and sent some home with my mom and H's parents.

We donated our flowers to a local nursing home, but donating food wasn't an option for us. We had a plated dinner and guests pre-selected their entree choices, so I don't think there was any leftover food in the first place. But donating to a shelter seems like a fabulous idea if the food is pre-packaged (or packaged well during non-Covid times).

We had our guests take home our leftover food and desserts! The caterers packed it all up for us, and we just told them whatever they wanted they could take and they did!
