Dollar Dance

Kaitlin, on January 6, 2020 at 3:05 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 9
I need opinions ladies and gents!!!
Dollar dance or no dollar dance?
I am torn between this! i love to get everyone involved and included as much as possible during our big day but i also don’t want to waste probably a good 30/45 minutes of our big day dancing (awkwardly) with some relatives i would rather avoid.. if you know what i mean!!! lol

You can skip the dance and do the shoe game which seems to be somewhat popular.

I agree with Sherry, skip the dollar dance and do the shoe game. I don't want to do the dollar dance at all, my dress is 100% lace I would be so sad if somehow during the dollar dance with everyone pinning money on it that it would rip.

I don't think you need to do anything to get people involved. They are already involved because they are there. Aside from spotlight dances and an anniversary dance, we didn't do anything at the reception other than play good music and provide food and alcohol. Everyone danced and had a great time. People danced with us when we were on the dance floor, no dollars involved.

I would skip it. Personally, I take a offense to the concept, but that's just IMO

I also agree that I'd skip it. Dancing for money is tacky to a lot of people

We didn't do one. I hate them (that's just my opinion though) and I've only seen them at 1 wedding. I couldn't imagine asking guests for MORE money after they went to the shower, bachelorette, bachelor, traveled to the wedding, hotel & got us a gift.

I'm with the "skip it" crowd, but you should definitely make the effort to talk to each of your guests during your reception, even the ones you don't like. You don't need to charge them money to interact with them; you can just do table visits during dinner.

We're not doing one. My brother did one at his wedding and it went okay. I just got an awkward feeling from it when their DJ announced it.

The dollar dance is a common and expected tradition in my area, but I don't plan on doing it. My family keeps telling me that I should because that's how you get money, but I just feel that its tacky and I hate dancing anyways. I just plan on making my rounds to each table and making sure I thank everyone for coming.
