Doing my own invitations

Addy, on April 20, 2019 at 7:01 PM Posted in Do It Yourself 0 15
I have decided I will be doing my own wedding invitations(wish me luck). I am designing them in inkscape and printing them out in my own printer at home. I am attaching the picture of the doilies I will be using and of the invitations I am designing. What would be the best material to print these on? Would I need glitter cardstock and thin pearl paper? Or how do I go about this? Any tips? And thank you in advance

We are also making our own invitations. We are using greetingsisland.com, they have 100s of templates and free to print! We purchased cardstock paper to print on.

Its amazing. I don't even remember how I found it, but it has helped and the invitation has matching RSVP cards, etc. Check it out!

Same. I had invitations drafted through Microsoft Publisher, but they just didn't look quite how I wanted. Plus I explored this site and found Save the Dates too! Back to Addy's original question, I'm using regular cardstock with a filler page behind it to add a border and similar invention enclosements.

That's awesome! I'm glad you found something you liked from the website. We also created our save the dates with using our first pic together lol. We plan on sending them out the end next month. We plan on sending then via email/text to save on postage. But, will mail it to older guest who do not deal with technology lol.

Hi! My family owns a print shop so I was lucky enough to be able to design my own as well as print them. I did mine on kraft paper, with the doilies as you can see here. The invitation itself can be printed on pretty much any type of stock but yes, you should use card stock. 100# if you can find one you like. The somewhat transparent paper is called vellum or you can also use a trans bond but vellum is more common. You can definitely do it!

I also did my own STD's on the same type of paper.

Thanks so much! They took forever to assemble and get printed but now that they're done, I am glad we did them. I printed them on kraft paper in all the different sizes. I folded the doilies in half, cut them and glued them to the backs of the invitations. Stacked the other cards on top and used corn to wrap them. The little tags were printed on the same stock and cut out.
