Doing makeup yourself?

I would do it myself. Especially since you have experience. There is nothing wrong with doing it yourself. A lot of brides on here have done there own makeup.

I am doing a tutorial just to get some tips for more flawless but like you I can put on make up and I do not want to chance it with someone because I will be out of town. Plus save some money. If you know what you are doing then go for it.

I'm going to try to do my own makeup. I am afraid the MUA will make me look completely fake and glamorous, and I want to feel like myself.

Girl I understand that. I'm a professional ballet dancer and I do have a lot of experience doing my own face as well as experience with artists doing it for me... But for my wedding I don't think I will attempt to do it myself. As much as I will be picky about how my makeup is done,I think it's worth it to look up reviews of local artists (a lot of them post before and after photos!) and try going to your top pick first. I suggest bringing an example of what you're going for as well. As they work, if you're not feeling like yourself, be honest with the artist and see if they can fix what you don't like. If not, try a second. I know it's expensive--I'm certainly not someone who wants to spend big money on my look, however, the day can be very stressy and there will be things that day that can't be accounted for. Decisions to make, people to check on, time is running out... After being a bridesmaid twice doing my own hair and makeup under time constraint, I can really imagine that if I tried taking on that added responsibility as the bride, I could get easily frustrated. Just something to consider. Good luck!

But I think it depends on how emotional and stressed you can be. If makeup is something you just wouldn't get frustrated over, then maybe save the money and do it yourself!

This is my plan! I'm very nervous about trusting a "natural" MUA. From what I've seen, I have a wildly different definition of natural. I don't want someone to get me to take my glasses off to do heavy and bold colors. I did some research and bought a palette I liked and plan to practice and follow tutorials for a year until I get it down pat!

You could always do a trial with a makeup artist and see if you like it and if not, go ahead and do your own makeup. Just keep in mind that if you do your own makeup it adds an extra element of stress for your day. Make sure you practice your look before!

I did my own makeup 💄 and it was the best decision many ppl frown upon doing your own makeup on your wedding day, but I disagree if you know how to do makeup no one knows your face better than yourself. I know how I like my makeup and found it hard to trust someone to do my makeup the way I wanted. Do it yourself!
