We were married july 5th. It was a good day and I was happy with how everything turned out, well as much as I could be, considering i wanted to elope and only did the wedding to make FH happy. ANYWAY, i wanted to share our experience with the WW online RSVP.. It was GREAT, we invited 168 people, did the online rsvp with an phone call rsvp option. Only one person phoned in! We had 20 people we had to chase down, which we did via FB. A few of those never bothered to respond, so we took it as a no. It was an amazing way to save a little bit of money, but more than that it was great to keep things organized. I highly recommend it.

The second thing we loved was the honeyfund registry. It was way more popular than our amazon registry (no B&M store registrys for us) and we received $1600 towards the honeymoon between the shower and the wedding. We also got cash at the wedding and a few horrible off the registry gifts (why would anyone need a cutting board with their name on it???!) , that have already been donated to salvation army.

I would be thrilled for a new cutting board. Personalized or not. But I can't tell you what to do with your life and I give you props for donating it instead of throwing it out. So kudos.

Also - We just adopted a Pitty mix in April. I LOVE dogs, and now am Pitty-obsessed. So PLEASE share pictures of your babies!!! Thank you!

I don't think she is coming off as greedy. She didn't like the gift so she donated it. What if she had said "My aunt bought me a 6 foot cat statue" You guys would be all over her like "Throw it out! Donate it!"

Hahaha SoonToBeMrsG has a great point. I don't think she did anything wrong by donating something she has no use for. I already have a few cutting boards, so I probably wouldn't need another one either. One of my hubby's aunts actually gave us a meat thermometer off of our registry that someone else also got for us but didn't take it off the registry. So we ended up donating the extra one to Goodwill. No harm done. Sometimes you just don't need multiple items of the same thing.

My pitts are also both rescues- we try to include them in as much of our daily lives as possible. Even if one person changes their mind about the media induced "vicious" pitt stereotype because they encounter our amazing dogs, we did something positive for the breed.

Our baby, Mr. Pibb, is also a sweet pie. Not a big kisser yet, like most Pitties are, but he's also still getting used to having a home. He's never had one before but is loving it so far! But he was the dog at the shelter that they took to the elderly homes and that they took out for the girl scouts to play with at the shelter. He also was taken to elementary schools to promote the shelter and breed. So he's a good baby Smiley smile

Sorry but who doesn't have any use for coasters or cutting boards? Do you never need to cut anything? Do you just let cold beverages with condensation sit atop wooden tables?! (Friends Monica moment, here)

Maybe you have use for them. I happen to find them extremely tacky and unuseful. Hopefully someone will get use out of them, hence why they were donated as opposed to trashed. I can't be the first person in WW history to get an unwanted gift (or several) . The example of the great aunt giving me a 6 foot cat statue, was great. Consider personalized items my "cat statue", to me they are just as tacky. Do people really expect others to keep gifts they have no use for or even simpy don't like? Not liking a gift is certainly not greedy. Greedy is asking for another gift (which we most certainly did not do).

I'm not a huge fan of Honeyfunds, but I'm glad it worked out for you. Maybe you received several off-registry gifts because those guests weren't comfortable with the Honeyfund and also weren't comfortable with an Amazon registry? They're both pretty non-traditional (but I'm looking into doing an Amazon registry because it makes a ton of sense).

There's no way in hell our dogs would make it through a ceremony. They're like our children, but one is incredibly anxious, one is a bit of a diva brat, and the other one is a super friendly part-lab who would just be like "Hi! Hi! Love me!" We compromised and took some e-pics with them. This picture pretty much shows how it was the entire time--but aren't they cute??

Sometimes, the best use of a gift that you won't use functionally is to find a way to turn it into decoration. I'm big into repurposing things, so turning the coasters into magnets or wall art might have been a fun alternative.

I don't think the problem is that you can't use the cutting board, it's that you are completely ungrateful. They went out of their way to get something they thought anyone could use and get it personalized for you. I don't think it's appropriate to complain about a gift you are given. It's ok to donate something you won't use. It's not OK to complain about a present and call it tacky.

Hey! Lets not knock coasters...I'm a coaster freak! I would rather use tacky and gaudy looking coasters than have condensations rings all over my furniture...

To each their own and if you felt you had no use for them, that's a-okay, I think it's better that you donated them rather than just tossing them. Smiley smile I probably wouldn't have kept them either.

Also, I think it's awesome you involved your furry friends! I wish my German shepherd was calm enough but she'd destroy everything lol!
