Dog parents please help!

Mackayla, on September 17, 2019 at 11:32 AM Posted in Planning 0 18
Hello puppy parents,
While I was thinking of wedding stuff and small details it dawned on me that I am not sure who will be watching me and my FH dogs while we get married. Our family won’t be able to of course because they will be celebrating with us. What are you doing with your dog children? Have you thought about this?

We got our puppy after we got married but have been to other weddings since we've had her. For the local wedding we went to we were able to leave her home alone since we were only gone a few hours. We have to travel for a wedding next month and we are taking her to a boarder we trust. She gets to be out playing with all the dogs at the puppy daycare they run and then in a crate at night (which is what we do at home as well).

Our pup loves daycare is always excited to be there. I would definitely reommned looking into something like that.

You can look into Rover or Wag. We are having our pup included in our wedding pictures and hired a company called "FairyTail Pet Care" to help us do this. They're going to pick him up at our house the day of the wedding, bring him to the venue and help with pictures, then drop him off at our overnight boarding. We don't have to worry about a thing.

If we don't have family available to watch our pup, we use someone from the Rover app. You can find someone to watch them at your house, someone to just come walk and feed them, or someone who does it in their own home. They give you updates and photos constantly on the app.

We are going to use Rover for during the wedding. My FH will stay with our furbaby the night before but I will be at the hotel. Then the night of the wedding Rover will be watching him.

We boarded our pup. He goes to a place where he plays with other dogs during the day and has a lot of fun.

I’m so upset I’ll have to take my cat to a kennel at Banfield. She is 16 and it’s too long to stay alone and my fiancé doesn’t want anyone coming in our apt. I am so worried about her.

I’m so fortunate I’ve never had to board mine. This time a very close friend, who I’m currently live-in pet sitting for, for two weeks (!), will be coming in to feed and scoop.

Do you have a pet sitter? We have two women we know and trust with our dog. One of them watched our dog from the Thursday before our wedding to the Tuesday after our honeymoon (so like 10 days). She also brought our dog to the ceremony so she could walk down the aisle, then took her back home before the reception.

We take our fur baby to a boarding facility that also has an interactive day camp when we go out of town and cant take her with us. We plan to board her which allows her to "attend camp" a day or two before the wedding and through the big day!

We have a doggie daycare that she loves, probably more than being at home since there aren’t many rules lol. Didn’t catch when you were getting married but if you have time take your dog to day time visits to different boarding places, a lot have play time daycares, maybe even a short overnight. That way you can see how they handle it and what place is best for you. I know our place even gives you your first daycare visit for free to try it out.

We never board our dog and we had the same concern. Luckily for us we had a destinations wedding in Florida and were able to bring our dog with us. We just had family members take turns during the reception going back and checking on him and walking him. I would check into rover or ask around in your neighborhood to see if anyone might be willing to help out

We're going to have someone bring our pup to photos before the ceremony, and then plan to get our dog walker to come by sometime near the halfway point of everything and take her around for a bit. If that somehow falls through, she'll probably get an overnight trip to daycare, which she'd love.

We invited our dog sitter to our wedding and were originally arranging to have our dog be the ring bearer with a dedicated "dog concierge" take care of him for the full day. When our regular sitter declined, she offered to take him for the full weekend. Simplified our logistics by a lot!

I have done my research and they are going to a place called The Barker Lounge. After reading reviews on multiple social site, I went with them. They set up a meet and greet for our dogs for a day of play to see their personalities and behaviors with other dogs.

I found my pet sitter on Yelp and she is just great. It is so handy to have someone you can call when you leave for a few days or longer. She comes to my house to watch them the number of times I request (usually twice per day) and my dogs love her.

They'll be at home watching themselves. Hopefully not getting into the trash as they're want to do. They're used to me being gone for long periods of time. If we were to be gone over night they'd probably be coming with us lol.

I have to large fur babies and they will go to the boarders for that weekend ( it is also the vet they see so I know they will be safe)
