Shay, on September 25, 2017 at 11:26 PM Posted in Honeymoon 0 9

I get my FH loves his dog like its his kid but he wants to bring her on our honeymoon if we are going to be out of town more than 3 days! Am i being unreasonable to not want to share my honeymoon with the dog?

I would love to bring my dog because I love her and she's adorable, but that to me seems like it would be too much to juggle. I can't go out and do what I want and worry about my dog that is alone in a place she isn't used to at the same time. I don't think you're being unreasonable, I think that you're being realistic!

Date twin! No way are you being unreasonable! Have someone you trust watch the dog while you're away. I would feel too guilty leaving our pup alone in a hotel room to enjoy any activities.

If my sweet boy was still around I'd be all for bringing him. Keep in mind though, we were at a pet-friendly hotel and had kind of a 'mini-moon' (3 extra days for a total of 5 nights at the inn & spa where we were married). If we were getting on a plane or driving more than 2 hours to get somewhere, I wouldn't be on board with it.

I think not. Remind him that hotels, even if pet friendly, are not homes. Your dog won't be able to play/bark/relax like he/she normally does. They usually have rules on keeping the. Leashed and crated which could be horrible for your pup if you will be out of the hotel a lot of the day. And are you traveling? My dog, love her to death, is an idiot idiot of excitement in the car. No way would I want to take her more than a couple hours drive in a car! Let alone if you are flying!

FH is the same way....that's gonna be a negative. I've put my foot down and they are not included in the wedding either....one of them would be fine with people, but our 100 lb retriever would be begging for food and chasing squirrels and barking at anyone that tries to come near us. Stress levels are already gonna be high, I don't need the added stress bringing our big baby along.

ETA: its late and words sucks.

Not flying anywhere but its a 5 hour drive and shes never been anywhere but at home. I dont know how she'd react to a strange place all by herself.

My suggestion : Board the dog or ask family or friends to watch if not a long time.

ETA : our dog loves all people and all new places. I have 0 worries about leaving him on honeymoon. He loves to be boarded or stay with grandparents. I'm almost certain your dog will be ok.

Yeah 5 hours is a very long trip for a dog that's never left home..and to be left in a hotel alone for good chunks of time when again, she's never stayed anywhere will be stressful for her and you! My vision: your dog stress puking in a nice hotel..on your honeymoon. Our pup loves grandmas almost as much as our home, I'd definitely leave her! Maybe look into a dogsitter? In college I would stay at an elderly friend's house every other weekend when she wasn't home and watch her 3 dogs so she didn't have to board them all!

Nah. She’d just be left at the hotel a lot of the time while you guys are doing honeymoon activities anyway wouldn’t she? Just leave her at home with a dog sitter.
