Dog hair on the dress?

Ashley, on February 25, 2018 at 9:31 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10

Kinda panicking. Took my dress out of the garment bag and plastic to measure the length for undergarments and as I'm putting it back in the bag, I notice black dog hair along the bottom. Not like a crazy amount, and if we're being honest, I can almost guarantee no one would notice- buuut it's making me nervous. It's a huge ballgown so I'm sure dry cleaning would cost a kidney. I'm sure a basic lint roller would work, but I'm really just looking for reassurance here! If that makes sense lol. It's really not a lot and I only noticed because my face was a few feet from the fabric, but have any of you had this happen? I'm going to get alterations at David's Bridal, and I know they steam the dresses afterwards, would that help? Thanks!!

I was hoping it would be that easy- I just wanted to check with others in case it by some freak chance would ruin the fabric or something. I realize that sounds dumb, but it's better to be safe than sorry!

A lint roller won’t ruin anything. If you’re concerned. Just spot check it with the roller on the back of the dress.

I feel for you, two dogs and two cats here! Go to town with a lint roller and then get one of those $10 plastic gown bags at Davids and hide the dress in there. Smiley smile

You’re making too much of dog hair. Use a lint roller and it will be fine, unless of course you have a Siberian Husky like me then you may need a vacuum.

I just picked my dress up on Saturday from DB. They will do an excellent job of steaming and making sure it's perfect for your day. As suggested, when you take it in, buy a dress bag, not plastic but the breathable one DB sells. Best protection for your gorgeous gown. IMO

I’ve got the same issue. I took a lint roller to my dress and also the inside of the garment bag. Dog hair is just a part of life, and as long as you keep the dress in the garment bag after you’ve dusted it off, it should be fine. The bridal shop will definitely help out. No need to panic. Just breathe and everything will be OK.
