Does Your Venue Require Paid Security?

Mrs. A. Fernandez, on October 27, 2013 at 4:10 PM Posted in Planning 0 14

A couple of the venue that we have spoken with, require us to pay security at $35 an hour. I love the idea, just incase someone has a little too much fun(if you know what I mean). I don't want to have to take away from me and my honey's special day, by telling folks that they have to leave.

Ours did not but the police are close by and they patrolled the park we got married in. I was told they could stay there if needed but it wasn't necessary

    *sigh* Yes.....

Just remember that telling someone to leave sounds much better coming from security than it does coming from you. Some can say it's a bit extreme. I say it's making sure people don't get stupid.

All the venues we talked to basically said that the security is for them only, to make sure nobody ruins their venue (I mean, honestly... it's a little insulting, but then I guess I remember that not everyone knows how to behave, lol).... they actually told me that if I wanted security that would be able to actually bar entry to certain people, we'd have to hire from an outside source. O....kay......... o.O

Our venue required it only if alcohol was served.

Our venue is including "free" security with our wedding package. I don't think any of our guests will get out of hand, but you never know.

Our Hall requires 1 security guard for every 100 people at $30/hr each. Plus the city requires a dance permit and will send a patrol unit close to the end of the night to watch the parking lot. The patrol unit will send us a bill for their time and we won't know how much that is until a week after the wedding.

Our venue includes security with the package. I even said that I didn't think we'd need them because no one would be getting crazy, but they have it for every wedding. Probably don't want their stuff messed up, or crazy guests. I get it.

The venue we are looking at does require it if we end up having over 100 people. I'd fel safer with security and as someone pointed out, I'd much rather have security having to ask someone to leave as opposed to me or my fiance

Ours does since it's on city property. We just have to hire an off-duty police officer, and luckily since my brother-in-law is a sheriff's deputy in that county, he's going to have one of his friends do it for $25/hour.

We have to if we have over 150 guests. The local police do it for $10 an hour. We are at 180 right now, so it just depends if I have 30 nos or not.
