Does this suit need a vest?

LaurenVictoria, on July 8, 2013 at 11:29 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 7

So, FH and groomsmen bought their suits this weekend. They ended up not getting the vests to go underneath the jacket, which at first I was ok with because I was tired and wasn't thinking lol. Now I'm having second thoughts about the vestless look. Is this ok? Does the suit need a vest? Is it like really bad fashion to not have one? I have no idea lol. If FH said he does not want a vest I would be completely fine with it but he is very wishy washy about everything. At one point he expressed that he liked the vest but doesn't want to spend the money. Thoughts?

Here's a picture of the jacket without a vest, though it has no tie in this photo which is not the look they're going for-- they will have ties.

What's the feel of your wedding? What are the bridesmaids wearing?

I actually like it without the best...BUT it's less formal without the vest...

We did without. We had a more casual wedding and the vests seemed too much to me.

Our wedding is kind of in the middle of casual and formal. So semi-formal I suppose. Theme is rustic-chic. My dress is fairly fancy. A-line, strapless, beaded with chapel-length train. Bridesmaids are each wearing a different style David's Bridal dress in chiffon. This is one of their dresses. The dressiness for all of the dresses is about the same level.

I personally like the vest, and it helps to separate the GMs from the rest of the male guests in suits. It'll look fine without the vest though. If you want the vest look, you can ask them to wear it for the ceremony and pictures and then they can take it off for the reception.

We are doing the vests with a tie for the groomsmen and then FH will wear the suit jacket to distinguish him from them. (tan suit) Depending on what you like, I think it looks fine without the vest!
