Does this sound stupid?

Mandi, on January 7, 2020 at 4:21 PM Posted in Planning 0 11
When I set up chairs, I want them to stay in the spot i set them up in. (Meaning, i don't want people to move them around.) I went to a friends wedding, and some dude had the nerve to move chairs so this huge hole was right next to the aisle.

Does it seem silly to run something like gossamer thru the aisle chairs? And then have the guests be seated from the outside rows?
Any other ideas on how I might keep socially stunted humans from moving chairs?
I just dont want a large gap right next to the aisle when I'm already having a 10' ish wide aisle.

You should t have to do that. Do you have a DOC? They should be able to make sure that doesn’t happen. I’ve never heard of that before.

I've personally never seen someone move a chair at a reception unless it was open seating. I'd ask your DOC & venue staff to watch out for that and tell people to not move them if they see it happening.

I have never seen this happen. I would talk to your DOC or the venue to have someone make sure this does not happen. You shouldn't have to worry about handling this.

Good luck! My wedding was in November and we spent about two hours the day before the wedding arranging 17 round tables with 8 chairs per table to seat 130 people comfortably all for me to walk into my reception and see a group of grown adults put THREE round tables in a diagonal line so they can fit their group at "one" table.. I honestly wanted to cry because I hated how the tables looked at the end of rehearsal the night before and asked my now husband rearrange them the morning of the wedding and it was all for nothing.

I'm understanding you are talking about during the ceremony. What if you had guests seated by ushers? I can't imagine people moving seats after being seated... Or maybe add pew bows to indicate that these chairs must stay on the aisle? I don't know, I've never seen anyone move chairs at the ceremony.

If you also want people to stay put at the reception I think that's more difficult. I find once the dancing starts people kind of sit wherever.

The answer to your post topics is, Yes! There are some things that you shouldn’t stress yourself about. None of those little things should damper the entire day. If you spend your planning time thinking about all of the “what if’s”, the list will be endless.

Oh yeah. Specifically the ceremony. The reception, do whatever. I just want my ceremony aisle to not look dumb.

I am so sorry. This is ridiculous and crazy. I probably would have cried too.

That's fair. If I hadn't seen it and been so bothered by it previously, it wouldn't be an issue.

I have never been to a wedding where they have moved chairs, only added to the back. Do you feel like anyone you would invite would do this?
