Does this Rehearsal Dinner sound cheap/cheesy?

milinovemberbride, on May 30, 2017 at 9:33 AM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 17

We're having our wedding at an all-inclusive venue-- the rehearsal dinner, ceremony, cocktail hour, reception, and cabins for the night before and night of are all included in the package we chose. My wedding planner (she works with the venue) suggested a space at the venue to host the rehearsal dinner-- great! However, I don't know what to do about food. On one hand, I don't want to come off as cheap or cheesy and on the other, I don't want it to be to expensive or over the top since it will most likely be pretty laid back.

So.. my question is: would pizza or food trucks (I haven't checked their availability in our area so just an idea) be cringy or seen as cheap? Do you guys have any suggestions on what to do for food for this rehearsal dinner? I would love to hear some ideas or even what you guys did as inspiration.

Not cheap at all as long you see this rehearsal dinner as a casual thing and not a formal affair.

Not at all! It gives the rehearsal a different feel and mixes it up a bit. More relaxed!

I second PPs that you do not need to spend a ton of money on making the rehearsal dinner fancy. Because you mention cabins, I am envisioning something remote from many pizza places. The food truck option might be the best to guarantee hot food.

We have decided to do a food truck and it is not really that cheap, but is cheaper than going to a restaurant. I love food trucks, so I would be happy. Well, I am happy just being fed haha

@Katie Olive Garden is a great idea and will most likely be around the same price as pizza. Thank you!

@Mrs. Fall Bride No, they do not. They provide the space, decorations, clean up.

Our catering service is a food truck. (Our venue does not have a formal kitchen)

For our rehearsal dinner we are doing the traditional food truck. Guests will choose from 3-4 meal options.

For the reception they cook all the food on the truck, plate in the venue and serve. It is amazing food and every wedding they do gets RAVE reviews. Plus it is unique Smiley smile

I like food trucks over pizza.....

My friend provided pizza at her rehearsal dinner - I didn't think anything of it. It was just fine.

Any food for the rehearsal is good food. Especially since you're footing the bill, and this isn't formal

Nope! We did pizza and bowling and had more fun than we'd ever have at a formal dinner.

We are doing Tex Mex at a local Taco place where we like to eat and the food prices are really reasonable. We considered pizza too but our fav pizza place is too small.

I would prefer pizza over a food truck personally but either is fine. This is not a formal dinner. Just a simple thank you.

I went to one that had pizza, cheese steaks and salads. It was great.

I think either is fine, depending on how it executed...just make it simple and considerate for your guests. (IE- like fall bride says-don't have them stand inline for a food truck outside in nov) The food doesn't have to be expensive. My favorite RD was actually Mexican food- fajita bar, salad, rice, beans and all the fixings... simple but fun and delicious.

I'm not a fan of the food trucks, but i think pizza, or something like Olive Garden would be just fine.
