Does this hem look alright with this dress? (pic heavy)

Elizabeth, on September 6, 2019 at 10:05 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10
I purchased this allure bridals 8800 used for 60 dollars. it's in almost perfect condition and fits almost perfectly but it comes right above my feet. I'm planning on wearing flats so I don't need that much length but I do need some so I'm thinking of adding this lace trim and then beading it myself. It's cheaper than a lace applique hem. I'm also beading my veil but that's unrelated. What do you think of this hem on this dress?

I doubt anyone will notice besides you, but I think that you can find something that will compliment your dress better.

Awesome find! I agree with pp that you could probably find a lace that is more flattering with the dress. I feel like the lace you have is too crocheted-looking, whereas a more floral lace would look better with the appliqué already on the dress.
Good luck with your project! Can’t wait to see how it turns out!

Yea I was thinking it didnt go super well either but I wasn't sure. I wish I could leave it as is but as is the dress is above my feet barefoot. Nobody looks good in a high water dress lol so this is the only way I can lengthen it. I will try another lace. Maybe something more open.

Try to find a lace like your straps, that scattered floral look. You can always wear a mermaid crinoline or slip under the dress so the lace doesn’t expose your skin.

Oh it has a matching silk slip. The pictures where the lace is showing my skin is me trying just the shell on with the new hem for length and look and pics. The entire dress goes above my feet though which is why I'm trying to lengthen it. It's also a pretty tight sheath. I dont think it would look right with a mermaid slip but it is an idea to ponder.

Yes definitely something more open, like a floral appliqué.

I would try to add tulle layers and add to your dress slip to blend it.

U honestly dont want the dress to go past your feet because then u have to worry abt walking on it. So if it is just above your feet then that is the perfect length.
