Does the "no white" rule apply to rehearsal dinners?

Staci, on September 1, 2015 at 4:21 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 10

Just wondering. I am going to a rehearsal dinner this weekend and the dress code is "elegantly casual" whatever that means.

I will probably choose another option to be safe but just curious what your thoughts are!

I've always heard that for any pre-wedding events guests should not wear white.

Just to be on the safe side I would stay away from white. Let the bride have her glory.

I wouldn't. I have picked out white dresses for the bridal shower and the rehearsal dinner to feel a bit more bridal. I mean I wouldn't really care if someone wore white to those events but I think it's just a safer option to not.

I'd avoid white for any pre-wedding stuff.

I agree with everyone else. It's pretty likely the bride will want to wear something white so let her have her moment.

I agree better safe than sorry. Based on feedback it seems a definite no!

I guess I haven't attended many rehearsal dinners because I've never considered it before.

I feel like the bride should be the only one in full on white/cream at her wedding events. If it's a multi-colored dress with a white background, I think it's fine.

I don't think I'd wear white to someone's RD but I wouldn't have minded (or noticed) if anyone had worn white to mine. The same applied to my wedding -- I did not care if anyone wore white. I wouldn't do it personally but if someone else does? So what. She ain't the bride, and for sure she ain't ever going to be THE LIVELYBRIDE!

If you care, tell people you care and hope they honor it. If you don't care, that's one less thing to worry about. You can't control other people. You do you.

I didn't wear white to mine so I think that is throwing me off too.

    Thanks everyone.
