Does mom come bridesmaid dress shopping?

Giana, on August 18, 2019 at 12:03 PM Posted in Family and Relationships 0 11
So my girls just found their dresses yesterday and you would think it would have been a happy day. Nope. My mom called me seconds before we walked into the store crying and yelling at me that she wasn’t invited. The call ended by her hanging up on me.
I think she feels excluded but I have included her in most if not all of my decision making thus far. Prior to yesterday i even showed her online some of the dresses I was was planning on having the girls try on.
To be honest I did want this day to be just me and my girls. Do moms typically go dress shopping with the bridal party anyway?
Part of me does feel bad but the other thinks she’s just trying to control my whole wedding.

My mom wants to come, but two of my BM’s are my sisters so she mostly just wants to hang out with us. I don’t think it’s weird either way.

That sounds weird, my mom had absolutely nothing to do with our bridesmaids dresses.
O f course it would be okay to have her if you wanted her there, but no, you should feel no obligation to extend the invite and absolutely no reason to feel badly that you didn’t.

I agree with Mcskipper. It is your choice, if you wanted her there that is fine. However it usually is a day for just you and your bridesmaids.

I think your mom is overreacting. Most of the time moms are there for your bridal appointment, but not a bridesmaid appointment!

Hello, I am the Mom of a bride to be and I say it’s your decision. I was there when my daughter picked her gown and am part of most of the wedding decisions but I don’t expect to be included when bridesmaids dresses are picked. It’s your wedding so you are free to do what you want.

I think you can do whatever you want... I have been shopping with the moms and sometimes without.. I think it is more of a thing if you are getting your dress that same day and she isn't there lol

I agree with everyone I think finding my dress was the most important day and she was there for that as well as I was there when she found hers. Also she has been involved with mostly everything planning wise this far. Don’t know what I did wrong here ☹️

I've only been bm shopping once and the MOB did attend, but I don't think it's expected. I'm sorry your mom blew up on you right before the trip started. I think you should take her to coffee or something and just have a "mom and me day" and help alleviate any hurt feelings.

My mom came to 2 of the 3 bridesmaid dress shopping outings - the first because it was a combo dress for me and bridesmaid appointment and the second because it was with the bridesmaid that's practically part of our family who's moved far away and they all wanted to see each other. She wasn't annoyed about not coming to the other one though.
