Does dj provide ceremony music?

Trinity, on April 29, 2020 at 5:25 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 17

Hello All,

This might be a stupid question, but I don't quite understand. From my understanding, a lot of people hire a violinist, cello, pianist, etc. for ceremony music right? Since are already over our budget, we don't want to spend another $300 or more (plus tip) for someone to play for 30 mins.

Does DJ also do this? We hired a DJ. How do you do your ceremony music?

Thank you!

The DJ should send you a detailed document where you’ll list the music you want played for each part of your wedding. The DJ should definitely be playing your ceremony music!

Ours offered to do our ceremony free of charge. But then again, it’s less than a half hour and he’ll already be there anyway. They should definitely be able to!!😊

Ask your dj for a quote to add ceremony music. I’m a musician so it was important to me to hire musicians for my ceremony, but it’s not necessary.

Ours added the ceremony for an extra $250. Our 4 hour reception quote was $1k.

Our DJ is doing our ceremony, there was a small upcharge only because he has to set up separate equipment for the ceremony. Your DJ should tell you if he/she offers ceremony services, but I’d imagine most do.

Our dj is doing our ceremony music but our officiant also offers dj services for the ceremony too. So if you have a professional officiant, or plan to have one, ask them if they offer that service too.

A DJ can definitely do it but you’d probably have to pay them extra to be there for the ceremony, unless that’s already included in your package. You should check your contract or ask them if they do that.

My friend played the flute for our ceremony, and we just got him a gift to thank him for doing it (at the time of my wedding he was 1 year away from graduating college with a degree in performance music, and he plays the flute professionally in an orchestra so he was uniquely qualified to play for our ceremony lol.)

If your contract doesn’t specify, it’s probably not included but you’re probably able to add it on. Just call and ask.

As far as I know, no. Most the time they’re separate costs. You could probably pay more for additional hours for your ceremony too but you’d have to discuss that with them

Ours was included. Our ceremony was 30 minutes long. We did hire a separate electric violinist to play the ceremony music though. Our DJ worked with her by providing additional instrumental back tracks for her to play along with.

Every DJ I met with included it.

    Hello,

Thanks for your response! We are actually using our friend who introduced us to be our officiant. I guess I will have to ask my DJ.

My dj did it for $100 more including per-ceremony music. He’ll be at venue an extra hour and I felt it was worth it.

My dj is doing my ceremony music, I don’t have any available organist at my church that would do it.

They can. Most DJ's give the option to hire for just the reception or for the ceremony and reception. I would ask you DJ if they can play for both.

Our DJ will be doing the ceremony music. The company has an extensive online site to enter song preferences for each part of the wedding - bride entry, bridal party entry, recession, etc.

Our dj is doing our ceremony and he asked us what kind of music did we want to play during our ceremony, cocktail hour and reception. It was a little extra bc he normally do just the reception for a wedding. I asked him to do all three and he was willing to do it.

Nearly every dj offers the option of playing ceremony music. However that only works if you are having both ceremony and reception at the same location. Not everyone is interested in bands/quartets/classical, etc performers.
