Doc- worth it?

Arianna, on October 17, 2019 at 5:32 PM Posted in Planning 0 13
Hi! My FH and I are trying to decide if it’s worth it to hire a DOC. We can’t get into the venue until 10am and will have to tear down by 11pm. I really don’t want to have to worry about vendors/decorating or tearing down. I also want our families to be able to relax and not have to stress about anything. It’s something that we can work into the budget if need be but I want to make sure it’s worth it. If you had a DOC, are you happy you hired them? If you didn’t, do you wish that you would hired one? Thanks for the help!

I've never heard someone say that they regret hiring a DOC. We're still a month out from our wedding and ours has already been a huge help. I couldn't imagine hosting a wedding without one.

Yes yes yes! Hire one. I was the most organized bride ever, everything was done & set up, and all our DOC had to do was set up decor & check in with other vendors. It was super straight forward for her, but it was nice just to focus on getting ready & the wedding rather than talking to the DJ & everyone when they arrived.

My mom missed her hair appointment and had no time to get ready at my brothers wedding because she was so busy decorating and dealing with vendors. I felt so bad!

A million times yes! My best friend had a small (~30 guests) wedding and no DOC and it was a NIGHTMARE for the bridal party. I’m still glad to have been a part of it, but it was incredibly stressful and a lot of stuff just didn’t get done, which stressed my friend and her wife out even more. Setting everything up, shuttling things between venues, hosting and ushering guests while they arrived while also trying to get first look pics done, hosting and serving at the cocktail hour, making sure everyone left for the reception venue on time and still getting there on time ourselves, Emceeing the reception, cleaning up after the reception (while tipsy), making sure everything was accounted for, and then cleaning up the ceremony site (her wife’s parents’ farm) the day after while exhausted and hungover was just...not fun. DEFINITELY get a DOC.

I struggle with this also, but went ahead and hired a DOC. I'm hoping it'll all work out in the end.

I have only heard of one person saying they regretted hiring their DOC and that was someone on youtube. If you don't have a hired DOC, you should definitely have someone that is a point person for the event (who is not in your bridal party) so you can enjoy your day.

A DOC is absolutely worth it. Mine handled both vendor snafus and insane family members.

I'm personally not hiring one, mostly because I can't afford one, but also our wedding is going to be super simple and straightforward. Our ceremony and reception are at the same venue. Most of my caterers are providing multiple services (caterer is also our florist and decorator, DJ company is also our photographer and lighting vendor). I only have three or four vendors. Plus, my venue has a coordinator, so she will make sure the vendors show up on time and will set up and tear down everything.

Oops meant to add more to my comment!:
I've heard great things about DOC's, so if you budget for one and feel the need to have one, I wouldn't hesitate to start looking around for one! 😊

Yeeees! Get one. Our venue included TWO and it would have been a mess without them. A DOC keeps vendors, guests, & the couple organized and the timeline on schedule so you AND guests can just enjoy!

I had one and definitely was worth it. But also that's because my logistics were tight and I needed someone to set up for me while I was at my ceremony

Our venue comes with a DOC but even if it did not we would hire one!! They are worth every dollar!! If you can afford one or even work one into the budget I would for sure.
