Do wedding invites have to match wedding signage, place cards, seating table, etc?

Rocky, on August 27, 2017 at 2:03 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 19

I was wondering if wedding invitations should match wedding signage? I found these floral invites that are so cute but I wanted wooden signs for our unplug sign and also wanted it to be more white and gold so I am so lost as to what invites I should do. Our wedding is going to be outside for ceremony and reception if that helps any... any advice would be so helpful!

Totally up to you! They don't have to match exactly but if they're in the same feel then I think you're fine Smiley smile I have found that putting everything together on a bulliten board is helpful to make sure it all goes together.

It's up to you. Vista Print and Zazzle has very nice ones that are inexpensive.

My signs do not match our invitations. I have a sign for the bar that doesn't match and also signs for the favors that don't match either.

If you have guests who are going to nit-pick over whether the signs match the invitations, those are not people you want at the wedding. Limit your guest list to those who actually care about you, not your paper goods, and you'll avoid a lot of heartache.

We had invitations, programs, and thank you cards that matched our ketubah (formal Jewish marriage contract), just because we liked the design. But we made no effort to have the signs match.

The invitations should match the formality of the wedding. I don't think anyone will care if all the stationary is in the same font or whatever, no.

I picked my invites because they reminded me of my dress. They do not match anything else we have planned. No one will notice.

I'm not. The invites are simpler and more formal. The escort cards and menus are colorful and match my decor

I agree with PPs, they don't necessarily have to match, as long as the formality is the same

I'm a web/graphic designer for a living, so I'm one of the few who do think wedding signage, invites, print materials and overall aesthetics should match.

I've treated my entire wedding as if I were branding for a company complete with a color palette, fonts and logo that is consistent throughout. It makes me so ridiculously happy.

I believe, however, that I'm the minority with this Smiley smile

Mine aren't. They are going to be in the same color scheme though. Like my wedding invites have a laser cut envelope that encases the rose gold invitation itself, and the table numbers are just plain white cards that list the table number. The chain of events and welcome sign will be in calligraphy on a huge chalk board. So mine are all different. Saves money this way.

I'm with @Kelsey. I'm not a graphic designer but I think it looks nicer when everything matches.

Thank you all for your comments! I found these invites that I love but just not sure which direction to go with decor wise but I think I've figured it out!

I'm with @Kelsey too. Not a graphic designer.. just very OCD about things matching.

Mine are going to be - kind of. I have a branch graphic that I used on the invitations that will be used on all the signage as well as consistent fonts. This is just because I tend toward being OCD and want everything to go together.

@Kelsey, I'm in love with your invitation suite and signage!

I think the picture collage you posted looks good! It should all match in the sense that it goes together but you don't need to buy the exact same signs from the invite collection.

Edit: I'm just slightly thrown off by the white and gold signs vs wood. I think it'd be best to choose if you're going more rustic or modern elegant.
