Do we tip the hair person?

Mrs!, on August 12, 2019 at 2:34 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 4
Hey guys! So I have a family friend who is doing my hair style for free on wedding day. She is charging each bm a flat fee that is discounted (I’m assuming based on other quotes I’ve gotten because she gave me the lowest prices). And I was wondering, do we tip her? And if so how much? And am I supposed to tip on behalf of myself and each bm? Or is each bm supposed to tip? Thanks

I always tip anyone doing a service the standard acceptable tip..15-20%. That includes waiters, hair dressers, nail techs, tattoo artists, etc. You can discuss with your BMs if they will let you cover their tip.

Yes I’d tip 20% each. Are your BMs paying for their own hair? If so, they’ll probably tip for themselves. For you, if she’s doing it for free, find out how much she WOULD charge for your styling if she was having you pay for it, and tip 20% of that amount.

Yes for makeup and hair tips! My wedding planner recommended following 20% rule.

Yes you should all be tipping 15-20% for the services. If your girls are paying for their hair themselves they can tip on their behalf. Or if you can swing it you can tip for everything for them.
