Do we send a gift

So we got a marriage announcement in the mail from my FHs moms first cousins son. They live in CO, we live in WI so we dont see them often. His cousin got married to his high school sweetheart and they did not have a wedding. It seems like they went to the court house and has a small dinner with the parents and grandparents.
So after receiving this me and FH are wondering do we send a card back to congratulate them and send some money? Or is the announcement just to let everyone know they are married?
Has anyone else dealth with this? What did you do

I think it would be appropriate to send a card with money in this situation. Only if you want to of course

I would definitely send a card. Up to you if you send a gift or not! If anything I would just send a check. Whatever you can afford, really. But you definitely shouldn’t feel obligated to send more than a card... a check would be a nice gesture only if you can afford it!

There is no “should” —if you want to send them a gift, go for it! I’m sure it’d be appreciated. But there’s certainly no obligation to do so

I wouldn't think they're expecting either, so a nice card would be fine. Gift would be the extra mile but definitely not necessary.
