Do we hold hands or not?

Misty, on August 29, 2019 at 11:53 PM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 11
I was sitting here having a discussion with the FH about wedding etiquette and we came to a point of holding hands at the altar. If we don't what do we do with our hands? Ima be so fidgety. Oh by the way 24 hours until the big day

I held my husband's hands because my nerves were so hard that I was shaky. You could hold your bouquet but I think it makes more sense to hold hands

I would most definitely be holding his hands during our ceremony. My MOH will be holding my flowers so my hands are going to be free.

I'm going to be so nervous and when I get nervous I talk with my hands and don't really want to be flailing my arms and hands while saying my vows so I will be holding his hands

I didn't know what to do with my hands during our ceremony. After H and I were like I guess maybe we could have held hands??? Haha i just kept playing with my ring once they were put on.

Lol I hadn't thought about this but "what do we do with our hands" made me chuckle Smiley xd I'm assuming we'll be holding hands, I'm sure I'll be shaking with nerves and his palms will be sweaty lol

Holding hands is a great way to keep your nerves under control and looks really beautiful for your guests. I often ask nervous brides and grooms to hold hands during certain portions of the ceremony for this reason. There is no etiquette for this, only what feels right for you.

I think holding hands is a way to calm your nerves as well as your FH. It also signifies the two of you coming together and looks really pretty in pictures. Good luck!!!

We did! My hands are much smaller than his so I gripped 3 of his fingers in each hand and held tight the whole time lol

We did for some but not all. If you're having a rehearsal, run through it and see what feels more comfortable while you're actually standing at the alter - there's no right or wrong Smiley smile

We held hands the whole time, otherwise I would've felt so awkward.

We kind of switched between holding hands and just having them by our sides. We held hands after the rings were on, I think, and at other times we grabbed hands when we were getting emotional during the ceremony. It didn't really feel that awkward!
