Do the photographer or band get a plate? i

Earlene, on April 12, 2022 at 11:57 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 29
I recently saw a social post where the photographer was denied a plate. He left the wedding and deleted all the photos!!

If you have vendors that are going to be there the whole day and night then you really should feed them. but also check your contract for any language regarding it

Yep, this is totally the bride and groom's fault. Most vendors state in their contract that a hot meal is required, so the couple probably violated that.

Yes, you need to feed your vendors, especially those who are there for the equivalent of a full work day. Many of them will stipulate this in their contracts.

All vendors who are at the wedding for its entirety (photographer, DJ, etc.) should be served a meal.

Yes, all vendors need to be fed. They're people spending an entire day working at your event, and after however many hours, people get hungry. Most will have something in the contract that they need to be fed a hot meal akin to what guests are eating. If the bride and groom violate the contract, then the contract isn't enforceable and the photographer has no duty to perform the contracted services.

Most catering companies will charge less for a vendor meal but still give them the same hot food that’s part of your dinner menu. Most catering companies also don’t allow you to bring in outside food.

Vendors definitely need to get fed, but most venues/caterers have a vendor meal that is usually a cheaper price than guests

Yes, vendors need to be fed. Many stipulate receiving a hot meal in their contracts. Most caterers provide vendor meals, which are usually a version of what guests are being served for a cheaper price

I agree with all the other posts! Our vendors were all fed a 'vendor meal' as offered by our venue, and set breaks plus having this meal available was required by our vendors. The details were laid out in our contracts.

My vendor meal price is similar to that of a child meal price, as they're not drinking alcohol which is the bulk of our per person cost. We're planning on feeding our primary photographer (2nd shooter is only there 3 hours so we're not including her in food count), videographer, DJ, our venue coordinator (not specified in the contract, but will discuss at final meeting to make sure we need to include or not) and our photo booth attendant.

Expect what you give. You want to treat them like less, then expect the same in return.

This is just a general question, but if the vendors come with the venue do they already make extra food for them? I’m only asking because I read my contract in its entirety more than once and didn’t see anything about providing vendors any food. Just curious.

Talk to your venue to make sure they are offered something filling and hot. But the vendors do need to eat something and won’t get a break to slip out to McDonald’s, regardless if they are contracted through the venue or you are hiring everyone independently.

Plus you don’t want to end up with a mad photographer who don’t give your pictures of the most important day in your life because of a little plate
