Do the officiant/ushers wear the same tie as groomsmen?

Tori, on August 22, 2018 at 10:54 AM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 9
Our officiant is our really good friend. I've heard both, but wasn't sure. The groomsmen are wearing eggplant ties. Should the ushers and officiant also wear eggplant or should we just give them black ties?

I was just letting mine wear what he wanted honestly. I haven't thought about them matching

I dont believe they have to but it might look nice for pictures sake. Our officiant is a friend so we made him a boutonierre as well. And his attire will match the color scheme (decided by his wife😄)

I think it really comes down to preference. We also have a friend officiating and I put him in the same ties as the groomsmen, just because I didn't want to introduce another color. I think either way would look great!

Our JP is wearing what he wants. Think he will actually be the most dressed. He said hes wearing a suite.

I'd put him in something different. He is an officiant, not a groomsman

Either way is fine. If you consider your officiant a part of your wedding party, then I would have him wear the same tie, otherwise no. Ushers can match the GM's or not - completely up to you.

Our officiant is FH cousin. He’s already decided to get the same suit as FH and the GM (we didn’t ask/require this) and we are getting him a tie for the wedding. It will either match the GM or compliment them in some way (coordinating with the wedding colors). We’re not really having ushers, it’s not something we asked people to do, but I think FH brother and nephew will be doing usher duties and I didn’t plan on getting them ties or boutonnières or anything.

The officiant is not a member of groom's side if wedding party, nor of bride's side. He can wear any appropriate business suit with any accessories. Not a tux ir formal wear. And accessories to match his suit, nothing else , definitely not chosen to coordinate with bridesmaids gowns ir theme wedding colors. Clergy, or judges, would wear their usual garb, with no reference at all to wedding party or colors. . So, the same thing. Ushers do not have to dress like groomsmen. Entirely up to you. But usually they wear a suit if a formal wedding, blazer or sports jacket and dress pants if a more casual wedding. They dress like guests, no need to match anyone. If they have only a grey suit, and groom and gm are in grey, that is fine. No reason to match, no reason not to. But odd if ties, pocket squares match bm, as they are never paired with bm.
