Do people send out Save the Dates for an engagement party?? Is this a thing?

Id just send invitations. Maybe shes sending wedding STDs and invitations for the engagement party around the same time?

Pretty soon we will see STD's for everything. Everyone will get so worried that someone might make another commitment before they receive an invitation to anything.

I've never seen this either, but my parents did get a save the date for a friend's birthday party last year, so you never know!

I've never heard of this. A wedding is a huge deal and I go out of my way to make sure I'm available. An engagement party I wouldn't commit to far in advance.

I firstly dont understand Save the Dates for a wedding but I caved to social norms but an engagement party, never heard of such a thing and just seems silly and OTT.

Most people don't even need save the dates for a wedding. I have never heard of sending them for any other event, wedding related or other social engagements. People usually should not be asked to travel more than locally for the lesser parties.

No, just invites are necessary for engagement party, couples shower, bridal shower. You only need Save the Dates for weddings, and they aren't even required then!
