“Do not play” songs??

That’s really a good idea. I would definitely ask our DJ about that!

Yes! I will definitely have a list of songs that I do not want played. You are definitely not alone lol.

Cha Cha Slide and Cupid Shuffle are no's for me. I can't think of two more irritating songs.

Our main no-go's were 1. line dances we thought were cheesy 2. over the top explicit songs

The general message we sent to our DJ was: "No chicken dance or electric slide, but make a judgement call if you're getting lots of requests for another popular line dance. Nothing over the top explicit that will have our parents blushing and yelling at us" (Think Akon's "I wanna love you"...which if you haven't heard the non-radio version is "I wanna f*** you", etc. etc.)

No “slide” songs.
Also, a no requests unless in the list provided by me.

My fiance HATED group dances... up until we attended my brother's wedding. Their DJ wasn't the greatest, but those group dances were an AMAZING way to get people onto the dance floor when things were starting to cool down. Everyone flocked up there to do the macarena and the cha-cha-slide and the cuban shuffle. Once he realized that we compromised by putting only the ones we absolutely couldn't stand (hello chicken dance!) onto the not play list.

Your DJ probably won't say anything about not wanting to play them, but they're a good safety net for him to have so maybe request spreading them out or only playing them as necessary if you're worried about the dance floor emptying.
