Do my own makeup?

vttn, on October 14, 2019 at 3:42 PM Posted in Hair and Makeup 0 11

I'm thinking of doing my own makeup because I want very minimal makeup done in a certain way. Has anyone done their own makeup for their special days? How did it turn out? And I would love to see the photos!

I plan on doing mine for my engagement photos and the wedding. I bought new, high quality makeup to make sure it will stay on. Keep in mind makeup may not show up as well in pictures so you may need a little extra blush and bronzer and a darker lip color to avoid looking washed out (you don't need to go as bold as me, but don't go nude for your lips). I'd recommend using Smashbox since their foundation looks and feels nice and their liquid lipstick stays on for hours.

I am doing my own makeup for my wedding. I wear a full face of makeup most days as it is. The only thing I might change and I will try this before the wedding to make sure it looks good, but I might do fake lashes which is something I haven't done a whole lot of.

I considered doing my own. I'm pretty good at it when I take my time. I ultimately decided against it though because under stress, I don't know if I'd be able to do it the way I want it. Ever been trying to do your hair for something and it just NOT cooperating? Same concept. I'm scared I'll have one fake eyelash that just won't go in the right place or I won't be able to get my eyeshadow even and I'll just have a mental breakdown.

I've actually never put on lashes so I'm thinking of asking a girl friend who's good at it to help me.

Have you found a MUA that you like?

I didn't personally, but one of my bridesmaids did her own. She is great with makeup. I would suggest getting good makeup & things like primers and setting sprays, then doing several trial runs so you are confident.

I don't wear them often, but do on occasion. For me they are one of those things that either goes on so smoothly and easily and only takes 2 minutes, or they go horribly wrong, I get glue all over my eyelid and hands and it takes me 45 minutes to make them look even slightly presentable. I have a couple MUA in mind. I've been struggling with the decision though because the girl that my hair stylist recommended is so good. Her work is like magazine perfect. BUT the trial, day of, and travel fee would cost me $255 (not including tip). And the rational part of me is really struggling with paying that much for one day of makeup. There's another girl I'm also considering. She is just a local girl I went to high school with. She's not professional, but does a lot of the weddings around our town. Her work is good - better than I can do. And she's only $45 including travel (does not include trial though) before tip. But her stuff doesn't "wow" me. So I'm trying to decide if it's worth it to pay 5 times the price to feel perfect, or if I could cut that cost and feel just as pretty with just a good makeup application. Lol.

    Do my own makeup? 2

I did my own makeups for our engagement photos (these are unedited pictures ) I took me like an hour and a half though (messing up and redoing) so I think I will prefer a makeup artist.

Well my wedding is next summer but i'm definitely doing my own makeup, if u have time to practice i would suggest watching makeup tutorials from iluvsarahii, and checking what products u need for your skin type and then when u wanna go out just try doing makeup and see how u feel about it , i'm sure you are gonna nail it and you are super beautiful Smiley smile

This pic is from my friends wedding last year where i did my own makeup , i hope it helps

Tried to match my makeup with my dress Smiley tongueDo my own makeup? 3

If you know the look you want and will be satisfied, by all means do it. Please give yourself extra time in case you need it for anything.
