So i am looking up ways to make things myself. since i am a very crafty person and so is my mom, we were hoping to make a starlit backdrop for pictures and everything ourselves since we are good with sewing and everything. i k now i want some christmas lights behind it or some LED depending on how expensive they are. anyone know how to or of any good websites i could go to so i could see how they are made?

I would not poke holes through the fabric to put lights through. Buy sheer curtain fabric and put lights behind it. You could price out white pvc pipes. They are 10' high and can be attached with plumbing fittings, or you could build it with wood painted white. Make sure you attach it to the ceiling, or somehow make sure it won't tip forward and kill somebody. After you price out wood, pipe, fabric and lights, I'm pretty sure it will be cheaper to rent. And, what are you going to do with it after the wedding? I appreciate the urge to DIY, but it looks easier than it is to make. You will have to make multiple panels of fabric because even the widest fabric is only 12' wide and it needs to be bunched to give the effect. I usually use 2 12' wide panels for a 10' wide backdrop. Don't use tulle. It doesn't hang well, and it's too sheer and stiff. Even on sale, the curtain fabric is about $5 per yard. You can e-mail me if you have more specific questions!
