do immediate family members also get an invitation?

ncbride, on July 11, 2010 at 3:17 PM Posted in Planning 0 14

I am trying to figure out how many invitations I need to order...and for some reason I feel like I should not have to give one to my mom, sis, bro, uncle, aunt, fmil, fsil, fbil, ffil...etc. What is the protocol?

I sent all of the immediate family (and wedding party) invitations... I also put a handful aside to add to our photobooks that I will be making for the parents. Parents love this kind fo crap! Ha!

You should send an invitation to every household invited, including your parents, your FS's parents, any siblings, etc. Even the wedding party should get invitations. Anyone you want to be at the wedding gets an invitation, even if they're part of the wedding.

Yes. Less because they need it for the info, but more for their sakes. Family members often like getting the official invite, especially your mom and anyone in the wedding.

I helped host a shower one time at my moms house ( i was a bm) and since another person took care of the invite portion, they didnt send either of us an actual invitations since we obviously knew the details. I was really dissappointed not to have gotten one even just for a keepsake (I never even saw what they looked like).

One - I want to cut costs on invitation (since I didn't want to do them myself and wanted this particular one that is pricey from birchcraft) and two - for some reason I thought they would feel like I am treating them like an outside...as they have the inside scoop on my wedding... but I agree...but thanks... I could see now how they would be dissappointed if they didn't receive one

I think it would be appropiate to save money by not mailing them. If they are close by, you could easily hand deliver them. (but still put their name on the envelope)

Personally, I needed an invitation when it came to my brother's wedding. I wasn't in the bridal party and they did not keep me informed at all about where things were going to be. Without the invite, I'd have been lost, literally!

We sent everyone but my FS's parent, because it's going to be in their house... but now we are thinking to send them an invitation too, so that they have it as a memory.

I live with my parents, and one of my brothers. So, I will be saving an invite for my mom, but It would be kind of dumb for me to address it, and walk upstairs just to hand it to her... lol.

I will be giving everyone else an invitation though, even if MOH is right down the street. I'll probably just hand deliver hers, and they'll most likely RSVP online. so at least I save in postage...

I would absolutely send them invites. Some of the best gifts are made or designed from your wedding invite from family members (guess they are just much more thoughtful). My friends mother was truly offended when she didnt send her an invite so EVERYONE is getting one from me... it doesnt cost that much more to give them a keepsake from my big day (because in part it is their big day too)
