Do I tip my jeweler?

Yvette, on April 10, 2017 at 9:01 PM Posted in Etiquette and Advice 0 2

Edit: We're not going to tip him and instead bring him some treats as a thank-you.

Hello! Haven't had much luck Googling this one, curious what you all think.

We're paying a jeweler (who owns his own business) a good sum for some delicate resizing and a custom wedding band. Do we need to tip him, and any idea what % or $ would be necessary? The total cost of the jobs was $500.

We're planning on tipping him at least $50 even if it's not customary, unless that would be rude...

IMO, you paid him for work, and he is the owner, so he keeps payment for that work. A tip is not necessary.

Thank you for the feedback! Relieved that it wouldn't be expected.
