Carolina, on May 8, 2019 at 10:00 PM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 11
Hi I need some help please! I’m getting married on the beach and reception will be on the sand of course but not sure if I need to rent a dance floor or not... would anyone dance in the sand? I mean people run and play ball in it why not dance?

I actually thought about doing my reception there as well but FH didn’t think it was a good idea lol.. I am having my ceremony there thou. I personally wouldn’t, but I’d say something on your website about that, that way girls know not to wear high heels lol. Or I’d have sandals for everyone🤷🏽‍♀️.

I’m having a beach wedding as well but just the ceremony is on the sand and the reception is underneath the house we’re staying at that has a direct walkway to the beach. If I were to have the reception on the sand I’d definitely rent a dance floor, idk if it’s just me but as much as I love the beach I wouldn’t wanna be in the sand all night at a wedding especially when dancing.

I would definitely look into how much they are but I would honestly get a dance floor. It would be nice for the most part being in the sand, but personally I wouldn't wanna be in it for too long. And the floor doesn't even have to be big enough to fit EVERY guest. Just a little something for people to have SOME kind of stability throughout the event ya know. Ultimately though, of course, the choice is yours.

At first I was thinking it may be hard to dance in the sand but after thinking about it I would be worried stay sand that will inevitably make it’s way into the dance would make a hard dance floor surface slippery especially in dress shoes

I would rent one only because running and walking on sand gets tiring. Plus if they are barefoot their feet will get all destroyed. If you want to have everything on the sand, I would get a floor for the dance floor.

I’m having a beach wedding and not getting a dance floor. It could be a “know your crowd” thing and I know mine won’t care. Plus I wanted a beach wedding for a reason. Most weddings I’ve been to the girls ditch the heels and end up in flip flops or barefoot anyway by the time the dancing comes around. I think the sand would be kinder to your feet than the hard (and sometimes grimy) dance floors. Plus as it was said before sand is gonna end up there anyway. For me the dance floor was an easy cut to save some money

Hmm this is a tough one. I’d think you’d be hard pressed to find a place that will rent you a dance floor to sit on the beach (the dance floor for my outdoor wedding came with explicit instructions that it needed to be under the tent/shelter the whole time!), but if you want dancing, a surface that’s easier on the feet than sand is key. I would dance a bit in the sand but wouldn’t be able to do it for as long as indoors, as doing anything in the sand is much more physically exerting than on flat land. If you want a dance party, I think solid ground is important.

Agree! You'll be hard pressed to find a rental company who will allow you to put a floor on the sand. Most require a flat surface (some don't even allow grass). They can be very strict with dance floor rentals! I'd just go for the sand and have some fun ;-)

It could be nice to have a sturdy surface to dance on, otherwise people's feet might sink in the sand as they try to dance.
