Do i Need Coffee and Tea?

Tiger Bride, on November 1, 2019 at 8:41 AM Posted in Planning 0 12

Our venue is a la carte, so we bring in everything. We're having dinner done by a caterer, and the cake is going to be made and delivered by Publix (very popular choice for weddings in the South).

Do I need to provide coffee and tea with the cake? Does anyone really drink it? I do, but I seem to be the only person at my table who does. Everyone else is reaching for something alcoholic at that point.

If you brought in different vendors for different parts of the food, who did you have do the coffee?

My future MIL is requesting that I have coffee for 2 older people who she says will want it to go with their cake, but I don't feel it is necessary. And it would be easier for me to do without than try to find a way to make it for such a small amount of people.

We originally thought about having coffee but ended up not needing it. We had plenty of non-alcoholic options for guests and that seemed to be fine. Although we did have the option of using a Kuerig if coffee was requested. I would rather do that than brew a whole pot to sit.

I feel it is necessary. We are having coffee to be served with our cupcakes. I'm sorry but if I'm eating something sweet I'm not going to reach for my beer or wine. I either would like a cup of coffee or even milk. We went a wedding where they didn't have coffee with their very sweet cake and I asked the server if I could please have a cup then they charged me $4 for a small cup of black coffee. They had a cash bar so it was to be expected, but I thought $4 was a little steep. I think it's courteous to provide something for guests to drink with a sweet treat that isn't alcohol based.

I’d say this is a know your crowd thing. More than half our guests used our coffee/tea service provided through the caterer so for us it was definitely necessary.

We are bringing our keurig and offering coffee and hit chocolate and tea on a make your own basis. If people don’t use it, I’ll take it home and use it or give it away to guests/family.

More people than I expected drank the coffee and tea provided by our vendor. I only drink tea so it was necessary for me. I was actually a little surprised that my husband, who is not a coffee drinker by any means, took a cup with his cake. It's just a nice extra little touch I think. People who don't typically reach for a cup will with desert in certain settings. It just ends up sounding REALLY good.

We’re not having coffee or any alcohol at our wedding. Instead we’re serving a homemade punch to have with our cupcakes/cake.

I would definitely recommend coffee and tea! Even when I'm at a wedding and drinking alcohol, I usually like coffee with my dessert. And many people do! Your caterer might be able to provide it. I would check with them!

Our venue had a 100 cup coffee pot we could rent as part of our contract so we did that and then just brought our electric kettle for tea (as well as supplying the coffee and tea but I didn't have a problem with that since I knew whatever was left would get used by us or the in-laws). The waitstaff set it up with the rest of dessert. I'm honestly not sure how many people drank it. But I would have felt bad not having the option available.

I love coffee after a nice dinner. I don't normally get it during a regular dinner, but any special event dinner or fancy dinner out, you better believe I am having some coffee!

For us, we won't be serving coffee. There will be water, juice, soda for those who don't want to drink. If you're getting too drunk and need to sober up, water is the best beverage in the world for that.
